When the dream becomes all too real

Swallow hard.
Brace yourself.
Be warned.
Because the night
The night brings tears.
It brings pain.
It brings death.
For with the night comes the darkness.
And with the darkness comes the beast.
Slim.
Sleek.
Cunning.
The winged beast rears
It howls
A deafening howl
Its needle-sharp teeth glint in the moonlit sky.
Its crimson-red eyes narrow.
The beast finds its prey.
Weak.
Young.
Asleep.
A small boy nestles peacefully in a straw-pile.
He dreams peacefully
Of a lovely meadow
Beautiful flowers.
Vivid green grass.
He looks up at the sky
And sees a nightmare approaching.
It spreads its ghastly wings
And the blue sky is soon filled with a deathly black.
It swoops,
It heads for the boy
It opens its massive jaws
Revealing a set of a million white daggers.
The boy opens his eyes
And suddenly the dream becomes all too real.
